Julia Barnes is 13 years old and has been around the game of golf since the day she was born. On warm summer days, you will find her out on the golf course, skipping down the fairways with a huge smile on her face. Julia began playing with a plastic golf set at age 2 and received her first real set of clubs when she was 4. Ever since that first thrill of hitting the ball, she has loved the sport ever since. When she was only 5 years old, Julia said, “Daddy I want to be a pro like the girls on TV”. Julia is progressing very quickly in achieving her dream to become a pro-golfer on the LPGA Tour.  Julia joined the MN PGA Junior Tour at age 8 and finished 1st overall with 4 1st place finishes and one 2nd.  She also competed in the MN 12 and Under Tournament where she finished 7th out of a field of 14 girls.  Julia shot a 73 thru 18 holes and showed toughness and determination considering she was the only 8 year old in a field of girls ranging from 10-12.   At age 9, Julia joined the US Kids Golf Local Tour and finished solo 2nd for the year!  She just missed coming in first by one stroke so a very impressive start to her US Kids Golf journey.  Julia also competed in the Drive Chip And Putt Tournament this year where she went on to win at locals, qualified at Sub Regionals, and then went on to represent 6 states at Regionals where she missed going to Augusta by one girl!  Julia finished solo 2nd (Alternate) and was sad to see her journey end going to Augusta this year but will be cheering Mckenna on!! One of Julia’s biggest accomplishments this year was that she qualified for the US Kids Golf Junior World Tournament.  The single biggest tournament to compete in for any Junior in the World!! Julia is working very hard in her off season and will be representing MN at Junior Worlds in 2020!!

Julia’s favorite golfer is Lexi Thompson. She also enjoys playing basketball, swimming, and eating Italian food!  Her Instagram account has well over 3,500 followers and growing. The sky is the limit for this young talented golfer so stay tuned as she continues to have fun while making her dreams become a reality.
